Sales Meeting Prep with Claude Code
Your sales team spends hours before each meeting pulling together the same information: who the prospect is, what their company does, what they've said before, what's in the CRM. It's essential work — but it's repetitive, and it eats into the time you could spend actually selling.
Claude Code can do this prep for you in minutes.
What the skill does
When a salesperson runs the meeting prep skill before a call, Claude Code:
- Pulls the prospect's details from your CRM or contact records
- Checks for any previous conversations, emails, or notes
- Researches the prospect's company — recent news, funding, job postings, product launches
- Identifies potential pain points based on their industry and role
- Generates a one-page brief with talking points, questions to ask, and things to avoid
A typical scenario
Sarah has a call with a Head of Engineering at a mid-size fintech company in 45 minutes. Before Claude Code, she'd spend 30 of those minutes in the CRM, on LinkedIn, and on the company's website, stitching together a picture.
Now she runs the meeting prep skill. Two minutes later, she has a brief that tells her:
- The company just raised a Series B and is hiring heavily in platform engineering
- The prospect posted about struggling with developer tooling last month
- They had a demo with your company six months ago but didn't proceed — the notes say "budget timing"
- Three talking points tailored to their situation
- Two questions designed to uncover current needs
Sarah spends her remaining 40 minutes reviewing the brief, adding her own notes, and going into the meeting prepared.
What you need to get started
- CRM data access — Claude Code needs to read your contact and deal records. Your technical team sets this up once.
- A meeting prep template — What sections should the brief include? Talking points? Competitor mentions? Previous interactions? Your team defines this.
- Five minutes with your sales lead — To review the first few outputs and tell your technical team what to adjust.
What it doesn't do
Claude Code isn't replacing your salespeople. It's handling the research grunt work so they can focus on relationship building and strategy. Specifically:
- It doesn't send emails or messages on your behalf (unless you explicitly set that up)
- It doesn't make judgement calls about deal strategy — that's the salesperson's job
- It doesn't access anything your technical team hasn't authorised
Results teams are seeing
- Meeting prep time reduced from 30+ minutes to under 5 minutes
- More consistent preparation across the whole team — not just the most diligent reps
- Better discovery calls because reps go in with specific, researched questions
- CRM data gets used instead of ignored — Claude Code surfaces relevant history automatically
